Thesis Title: Cultural Collaboration and Social Change in Contemporary Indonesia
This thesis demonstrates the significance of activist festivals as new cultural spaces in Indonesia. It integrates theories of participatory art, the making of place, and networked culture to create an overlapping, shifting and multidimensional map of activist practices that serves as a better theoretical framework than any singular approach.
