Thesis title: Art in noise: an embodied simulation account of cinematic sound design
Within cinematic media, like movies and computergames, what is designed by sound design? This dissertation explores the nature and function of cinematic sound design by distilling 25 years of praxis into a unifying theoretical framework, arguing the primary concern of sound design is not the production of narrative per se but the production of affective content and the structuring of that content as an embodied process of sense-making.
